Lotta Comunista and Its False Claim to the Communist Left

Throughout the proud history of the Communist Left, sustained efforts have been made to distort its history, political positions and traditions through falsification, misrepresentation and false attribution. Political currents with no theoretical, historical or political connection to this internationalist tradition have sought to present themselves as part of the Communist Left, thereby blurring the clear class and political boundaries between revolutionary communism and the left of capital.

One of the clearest examples of this is the portrayal of Lotta Comunista as one of the currents of the Communist Left—an assertion that has no basis whatsoever in the history, political positions or established traditions of the Communist Left. By appropriating the name and historical legacy of the Communist Left, this organisation seeks to acquire political and historical legitimacy for itself while simultaneously obscuring the class and political boundaries between internationalist communism and the capitalist left.

The book The Truth about the Communist Left is a thoroughly documented and well-substantiated response to these political distortions and falsifications. It demonstrates how the falsification of history, the distortion of political positions and false attributions are employed to present organisations such as Lotta Comunista as part of the tradition of the Communist Left, even though such claims have no historical, theoretical or political foundation within that tradition.

Drawing upon documentary evidence, the historical record and the programmatic positions of the Communist Left, this book reaffirms the class and political boundaries between the Communist Left and the capitalist left. It challenges every attempt to blur these boundaries or to appropriate the tradition of the Communist Left.

From the standpoint of the Communist Left, the distortion of this tradition is not merely a theoretical error or a historical misunderstanding; it is a political attempt to discredit internationalist communist positions and to divert workers and revolutionary elements away from the genuine communist alternative.

For this reason, the Communist Left must be understood on the basis of the documents, positions and historical continuity of this tradition itself, rather than through narratives that seek to present currents alien to it as belonging to the Communist Left. The Truth about the Communist Left is not merely a response to a preface or an article; it is a defence of the historical and political truth of the Communist Left, of its internationalist tradition, and of the continuity of the communist programme in the face of attempts to distort, diminish or appropriate this tradition.

If you wish to understand the Communist Left from its genuine sources; if you wish to clearly recognise the distinction between internationalist communism and leftism; and if historical and political truth matters to you, then reading this book is a political necessity, not merely an academic or personal choice.

Read this book, discuss it and share it with others. Defending the truth of the Communist Left is an inseparable part of the struggle to defend the revolutionary programme and the internationalist tradition of the proletariat.
